At Aveda Institute Boise and Aveda Institute Twin Falls, we believe that beauty is more than appearance. Beauty is a reflection of care, wellness, and responsibility to the world around us. That is why we use Aveda products, which are renowned for being plant-based and environmentally responsible.
Our beauty school has two campuses, and each one delivers beauty education and services in a supportive, real-world salon environment. By combining Aveda’s holistic philosophy with hands-on training, we aim to empower students as they grow into confident, skilled professionals.
Whether students attend the Boise or Twin Falls campus, they could transform their futures by learning cosmetology, esthetics, barbering, nail technology, or the instructor program.
Our beauty programs at Aveda Institute Boise and Aveda Institute Twin Falls are designed to help you excel as you learn from dedicated instructors, visiting guest professionals, and local beauty business owners. This design of classroom work, quickly followed by many hours working in the student salon and spa, could open doors to entrepreneurship and leadership roles in beauty.
We founded our school on the idea that beauty education is best delivered by those who have actual professional beauty knowledge. Owners Nathan and Ren Shaw were inspired to transform beauty education after struggling to hire workers for their salon, The Electric Chair. Nathan and Ren worked hard to create an inclusive, welcoming student experience while delivering beauty education that has the potential to change the future of the beauty industry.
Being owned by successful salon owners sets us apart from other beauty schools. Students can expect to learn the art and science of beauty in a wide variety of programs established by professionals who understand better than anyone what technical and soft skills are necessary for success in the beauty industry. Business skills are also woven into the programs’ curriculum, which helps prepare students for whatever they encounter after graduation.
We partner with top industry professionals and host workshops and guest lectures that give students exposure to the latest trends, skills, and career advice. Students also gain access to a network of professionals through school events and connections with local beauty businesses.
By giving students access to the real world of beauty while they are in beauty school, we help them better understand their options as they prepare for their next step.

Traditional beauty education often teaches to the State Exam and does not prepare students to become practicing beauty professionals. At our beauty schools, we strive to turn that around. Our incoming students are innovative, inspired, and ready to make a difference. We believe it’s our job to shape their passion and talent, so they can become individuals who know more than the basics of beauty and are equipped to open their own salon or run a beauty business. Our curriculum includes a solid grounding in business, marketing promotion, and other skills that students need to make beauty a successful career.
Students and even graduates of our school can enrich their knowledge and skills by attending advanced classes that we host at our schools. For example, we offer advanced haircutting classes, Bella Lash eyelash extension certification, and Makeup Designory (MUD) makeup artistry to keep professionals current with their craft and provide additional ways for students and graduates to expand the services they can offer.
The Aveda brand is known worldwide as a premium beauty brand focused on sustainability and natural plant essence-based products that are kind to the body and the earth. These same principles and values guided founder Horst Rechelbacher when he went on to launch the first Aveda Institute in Minneapolis.
Integrity is at the heart of the Aveda product line and the Aveda Institutes. At our beauty schools in Idaho, we strive to reflect that core of integrity in our educational programs and the services we offer to the community. Our students, instructors, and staff are concerned with their impact on the world around us, and we aspire to push the boundaries of creativity and sustainability. We want to make a difference in the lives of those around us by extending the limits of what beauty has been and should be.
Beauty is changing lives and giving back to the world around us. When you join our family, you are allowed to color outside the lines, do the unexpected, and help the world be a better place.
Each program has its own program start dates throughout the year. Start dates may be different depending on whether you choose a full-time or part-time schedule. Check out our individual programs, and feel free to contact us whenever you are ready to begin the enrollment process!
We believe many students learn best by doing, so students spend many hours learning and working in the student salon and spa, performing services on real guests under the direct supervision of licensed instructors. We equip the student salon areas with professional products and tools.
