Take Our Quiz!

You’ve built your skills. Now build the next generation.

If you love beauty and love teaching others, the cosmetology instructor program at Aveda Institute Boise and Twin Falls is for you. Licensed cosmetologists can choose from two tracks based on experience: a 1,000-hour program for those with fewer than three years in the field, or a streamlined 500-hour program for those with three or more years of professional experience as a cosmetologist.

Both cosmetology instructor programs run on a full-time schedule, so you move quickly from learning to leading. If you’re ready to make your mark as an educator, step back into our classroom and start shaping the future of the beauty industry sooner than you think.

Inside the Cosmetology Instructor Program

As an aspiring cosmetology educator, you’ll learn through lectures, demonstrations, and hands-on classroom work, building on your cosmetology foundation with more advanced practices and principles. You’ll also step into a supervisory role in the student salon, guiding other students’ work in real time.

Throughout the program, you’ll train with Aveda products — vegan, cruelty-free, and trusted by professionals worldwide. The program also opens doors that standard cosmetology training doesn’t. Instructor students have exclusive access to Aveda hair cut and color system certification training, so you can earn credentials that set you apart even in the Aveda professional network.

We look for instructor students who we believe are a strong fit for our campuses. If we enroll you, we’ll support them through your full instructor journey. For the right candidate, completing this program could mean joining our team at Aveda Institutes in Idaho.

The full-time instructor program is available at both Aveda Institute – Boise and Aveda Institute – Twin Falls.

The length of the program depends on your experience. FAQs About Our Instructor Program

Is the instructor program full-time or part-time?

We offer the instructor program as a full-time course, so our students can reach their educational goals as soon as possible. If you have questions about specific times and dates of classes, please contact us.

How much does the instructor program cost?

Contact our admissions team to learn more about program costs.

Is financial aid available to students in the instructor program?

Yes! Financial aid is available to those who qualify. There are some unique aspects of the instructor program that makes financial aid opportunities different from those of our other programs. Only students enrolled in the 1,000-hour instructor program can qualify for financial aid. Those enrolled in the 500-hour program are not eligible because of the short duration of the program. Either way, it is a good idea to begin the financial aid process by filling out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA®).

Many students at our school have qualified for Pell Grants. They have even qualified for grants that exceed the cost of our program, which means they could pay for the program and have some money left over without needing to take out a loan. Contact us to learn more about your financial aid opportunities.

What are the prerequisites for enrolling in the instructor program?

You must have a current cosmetology license for the state of Idaho to enroll in either of our instructor programs. Enrolling in the 500-hour program requires three or more years of experience as a licensed cosmetologist.
