Getting Started
Step 1: Understand the Requirements
To be eligible to receive a cosmetology license in Idaho, you must have the following (in addition to the educational and examination requirements):
- Documented completion of the tenth grade and;
- Be at least sixteen and ½ years of age
Step 2: Get in Touch
You can get in touch with us in a variety of ways. We want to schedule a time for you to come in for a personal tour of our schools. During a tour you can learn more about your program of interest, meet current students, interact with our talented educators, meet our fun and inspiring owners, and even get information about the financial options you have for funding your education.

Step 3: Fund Your Dream
Beauty School Financial Aid
If you want to attend beauty school but are unsure of how to pay for it, we want to help you. Don’t let financial concerns stand in the way of your dreams. Aveda Institute Boise and Aveda Institute Twin Falls offer financial aid to those who qualify in our cosmetology and esthetics programs.
Start by filling out your FAFSA® (Free Application for Federal Student Aid). It is free and everyone should fill it out to see if they qualify for any kind of federal aid.

Veterans’ Assistance
Aveda Institute Boise and Aveda Institute Twin Falls also offer various loans, scholarships, and grants to veterans. Contact the Boise or Twin Falls locations for details!
Step 4: Follow Up
After you’ve completed the steps outlined above, you’ll need to do some follow up. Schedule an appointment at your campus of choice to turn in the following items to our admissions department as required by the state of Idaho.
- Application and registration fee of $100
- Proof of age by a valid driver’s license or birth certificate
- Proof of education by high school diploma or GED
- Name change documents (marriage license or divorce decree)
Step 5: Get Accepted!
If you are accepted, you’ll receive your acceptance letter in the mail with information for your orientation and confirmed start date. This is the first day of the rest of your life, and we can’t wait to be a part of it!
