Our Cosmetology Program Teaching Approach

In our cosmetology program, offered at both our Boise and Twin Falls campuses, we guide you to be hands-on on the salon floor as soon as possible.

Our firm belief is that getting the opportunity to practice and perfect your services with real clients–learning by doing–is the best way to train. Through many years of educating, we’ve found that salon floor experience helps students find their stride and get in touch with their passion and creativity. As a bonus, you can build relationships with clients that can continue even after graduation.

All students working in our student salon receive lots of support, supervision, and instruction from our dedicated instructors. The salon floor is where a majority of the learning takes place, and we help students gain confidence in their skills as they work on mannequin heads, live models, and actual clients from the community.

As you become more experienced in the program, you’ll be exposed to extracurricular activities that teach more advanced skills and help you build a solid portfolio. For example, our cosmetology students have taken part in photo shoots, fashion shows, and special community events.

We also invite industry experts, educators, and guest artists to hold seminars and provide learning opportunities that give our students valuable insight into the current trends of the beauty industry.

Our curriculum is designed to prepare you to sit for the state board exam, and it also covers business and client skills to make you career-ready.

Our talented owner, Nate Shaw, teaches the business of beauty so students can learn what it takes to succeed in the beauty world. The leadership team owns a salon as well as beauty schools, so they have a wealth of wisdom to pass down to students.
