Memorial Day Travel Tips
Picture this: Youβre enjoying the Memorial Day holiday with family and friends. There is food, fun and sun. What more could you ask for on such a special holiday? Β By the end of the day, the shade of red covering your face, arms, and legs clearly means one thing: you forgot sunscreen.
Did you know that sunscreen is one of the most commonly forgotten items while traveling/vacationing? Along with phone chargers and deodorant, sunscreen is one of the items that you really need to bring with you when you travel!
Memorial Day this year is May 30th, and we would hate for you to spend your holiday burned and miserable while everyone else honors the holiday! So here are some simple Memorial Day travel tips to keep your holiday fun and your skin protected!
1. Make a List
As soon as your travel plans are made, and you have the itinerary (if youβre flying), make a list of ALL of the things that you need to take with you. For instance, you know youβll need a phone charger, tooth brush, tooth paste, etcβ¦ So take a few minutes to jot down a list that you can refer to when youβre packing. Making a list of items you need, will
also help you figure out what you actually have and what youβll need to shop for. Which brings us to the next point:
Just don’t forget where you put the list
2. Give Yourself Enough Time to Shop
No one wants to be rushed, or worse, unprepared. Taking the time to make sure that youβre stocked up and ready to take off for your trip makes the whole process much less stressful.
*Pro tip – If youβre flying be aware of the size that bottles must be if they contain liquid. Nothing is worse than watching TSA throw away a full bottle of shampoo. Β Invest in small travel containers, like these ones on Amazon, and simply take the amount that you need for your trip. If youβre going on an extended-stay, consider shopping for needed toiletries after you arrive.
3. Always Pack Sunscreen
This tip is actually just good life advice. May is Melanoma Awareness Month and we want to remind you that skin protection is very important! Even if itβs cloudy and overcast, the UV rays still get to your skin and can cause damage if the proper precautions arenβt taken. Stressed about which one to pick? 4. Check the Weather Before You Leave
Preparedness is key, so take a look at the weather for your destination, and remember that even in cloudy weather there is still reason to wear sunscreen. Err on the side of caution and pack light jackets and rain-ready clothes just in case! Memorial Day is usually quite warm, but depending on where you are, you may experience some unfortunate weather events.
Don’t forget the umbrella!
